Alice

Plot:
"Alice" is a film concert where four musicians are interpretating music pieces by Alice Tegner, accompanied by a continuous animated film. The show was created in 2021 and has been touring since then.

Idea:
To create 12 short animated films for the concert and develop a technical solution for how the projections could be displayed during a tour.

Process:
I started by sketching characters and events for the animated films based on the theme of the music. The basic material consisted of handmade drawings and watercolor paintings, which were then photographed and divided into layers in Photoshop. The animation was made in After Effects. We rehearsed with the film and music together to find the timing and determine where certain sequences could be looped to create space for audience interaction and improvisation. The films were then assembled and programmed in Qlab.
