Dit bubblorna far
The VR studio was a virtual studio that existed at the Royal Academy of Arts (Mejan) in Stockholm from 2001 until 2016 when it was completely destroyed by a fire.
I studied at the videodepartment at Mejan between 1998-99 and experimented a lot with chroma key. Eberhard Höll, who was in charge of the studio, asked me if I wanted to produce a piece for the opening of the VR studio in 2001. My idea was to use chromakey and my own version of a Kuruma Ningyo puppet attached to my body so that it could move freely in a 3D live-rendered scenography.
However, the technology had mostly been used for live broadcasting of football competitions, which meant a lot of problem-solving before everything worked. The film was eventually compiled into a somewhat surreal creation story named "Where the bubbles go".
