Possible and hardly possible moves

Animation

Possible moves

Plot:
"Possible and hardly possible movements" is an ongoing project that utilizes AR or "augmented reality" to showcase animated movements. The movements are inspired by a series of sketches of kung fu sequences in the movie "The Master of the Drunken Gods." The sketches are then used as instructions to create new interpretations of the movements.

Idea:
The goal has not been to replicate the original, but rather to use the sketches as inspiration to create new movements. One of the criteria has been that every sequence should be repeatable as a loop.

Process:
I filmed the interpretations with an action camera and transferred them to hand drawn animation using rotoscoping. The sequences are placed in various landscapes and framed as Polaroid prints. The result is a series of 24 GIF animations sometimes showcased with the use of Augmented Reality.

Techniques:
Sketches, TV Paint, After Effects, Artivive

Productionyear: Work in process
